Isle of Wight Scent Bottle - Summer Fruits?
« on: July 30, 2013, 01:43:58 PM »
Fear Forum,

I've recently bought an Isle of Wight scent bottle at an auction sale. Would anyone be able to tell me which range it is from please? I think it's Summer Fruits - but apparently there are variants of Summer Fruits - it could be Cranberry, or Liberty Purple? Any suggestions welcome. I've attached a photo. There's no label on the base.

Thank you.

Is it iridescent and how big? It is not Liberty btw.

Plenty of Summer Fruits Cranberry here to compare: http://iowstudioglass.wikidot.com/summerfruits

Thank you, it is slightly iridescent. It's 11cm tall including the stopper and flat rather than spherical. I've had a look at the link you give, thank you, it looks like Cranberry, but not all are illustrate there it seems.

Martin

The shape of yours is fine but your photo does not show the decor well. To show iridescent finishes light needs to reflect off the surface instead of passing through the object. To get the effect to show, photograph with a dark background and light falling onto the front. If you can lower the camera so you are not looking down at an angle that helps too. :)

I would say Yes to summer fruits - Cranberry. It has the right combination of coloured glass pieces, and I'm assuming it has the same purple surface as the examples in the pictures on the IoW link posted above.

Thank you. I do find it difficult to photograph glass in close-up, there seem to be reflections all over the place, as I get rid of one, another appears.
