ID PLEASE Large Tall Amber Three Bubble Jug
« on: August 28, 2013, 06:00:10 PM »
 ???

Help with ID please.

Strange tall amber glass jug with three large bubble sections and applied handle and spout.
Some prune like seals are also applied to each section. Snapped base pontil and cork with glass swan on top.

I was thinking it looks very Turkish??

Any help would be most welcome.
Kind Regards
Tom

Hi Tom, looks like it might be Gordiola of Spain:

Hi Wayne,

Wow that was quick.

My jug seems to have a bit of base ring wear which leads me to think it has some age.
Is Gordiola a vintage glass maker or still trading?

Regards
Tom

Still trading but I think they have been around a while.

Quite a traditional form, Spanish in origin I think but not sure of the original period, I thought Gordiola too (they have been making glass for a couple of hundred years it seems).

Thanks guys - I checked out Gordiola web site and found very similar applied details etc, The swan stopper in particular is very much the same. but I never found my actual piece.

I can only guess my example is long out of production. Dating would be great if poss.

THANK YOU
