« on: September 06, 2013, 02:43:37 PM »
Perhaps an easy one to guess, all suggestions welcome :)

Measures 6 inches tall with a rim diameter of 2 inches. Weighs 615 grams. Clear cased.

Take a guess..... :)

Norman-Stuart-Clarke?
Cowdy Glass?
Midsummer glass?
Peter Holmes of Border Art Glass?
A few stabs in the dark, Greg! :)

None of the above I'm afraid.  :)

I hadn't seen any Peter Holmes Border Art Glass before, having just looked I can see the similarities.

yup, the pulled swirls are very Border Art Glass. :)
I'm very "pulled"myself towards something to do with Ysart somehow - which is why I chose BAG.

It's not Monart, is it? A scarce, hitherto unknown colourway?

N S-C, because of the similarities to his Chartreuse pieces (although in close-up, the dark swathes are much more diffuse).

I would like it to be an unusual piece of Monart, alas it is not so.  :)

I thought at a distance it may be Scottish, however, Scotland can be ruled out.....

Purely on the date line is it someone of the ilk of Peter Layton, George Elliot, Dillon Clarke, not sure if I should include Adam A probably too young ;D

Good guesses although none of the above.

It wasn't a piece I would have immediately associated with the maker until looking at the base..... ;)

I'll add the give away picture later today.....

Don't give it away too soon Greg, just saw the post this morning after a long hard night. Struggling to think of a company in the '70s excluding Scottish makers apart from Dartington, or Wedgwood. Isle of Wight and Alum Bay and Island glass Guernsey were 'considered'
Then starting thinking maybe not contemporary but an individual maker so then started thinking of 'individuals'
John are you asking who George Elliot was or was that a guess too :)
What did you see on the base just a signature?
