is this really a Nazeing lattice bowl? or is it Vasart?
« on: September 24, 2013, 11:43:52 PM »
I was just looking up this bowl again (caught my eye when searching for something else many moons ago, and I loved it at once) and wondered if it is actually Nazeing rather than Vasart?  It's the red herringbone type one on the left - it just look remarkably similar to the two Nazeing lattice bowls I have.

That type of decoration was used by the Ysart's (Monart and Vasart), but with out seeing the piece in question it is near impossible to put a maker to it. Fairly sure the other 5 pieces are Vasart.

thanks Gary :) I'm still not sure to be honest.  It looks very like my Nazeing lattice bowls, but a different shape.
Is it possible to point me in the direction of any Monart or Vasart photos please of this lattice effect?
I've found a couple of Monart pieces that don't look like this though, and none of Vasart.

Below are two examples of Vasart pieces with that type of decoration. I also have a Monart piece with that type of decoration and there is a distinct difference between the Monart and Vasart finish.
If the piece in question is a Ysart piece I would go for Vasart.

At least I now know where all the GOOD Vasart in Scotland has gone.
You've got it, Gary.  ;D

Thanks Gary - and wow, those are beautiful.

I love that red though - it would look so good with my Nazeing pieces  ;D

I would say its defo Vasart, right shape colourway etc, , I might even have same decoration/colourway in some of my boxes, I sold a similar piece years back on ebay and it made over 300 pounds, the only piece I have in my collection that I have a pic of is the jumbo sized top hat
who needs Revatio when you have a collection of Monart

Gary, I think that's a wonderful thing to do :)
I love both your pieces, but I was talking about the red lattice bowl in the Lyon link fortunately  ;D I still keep my eyes open for that piece.

Millarart, thanks also for sharing yet more beautiful Vasart glass.
