Monika  -  I love it, but then I'm a big fan of cut, clear glass.                 But …………..  what is anything worth?   It depends on how much you really want something, not the financial cost  -  what is 88 Euros compared to the pleasure this will give you each time you look at it.

If you ask the people here there will be many different opinions as to how individually they might value this cut dish - some might give their eye teeth for it, others will have no interest  -  and then there are all the other folk in between :)
If you like it, buy it  -  don't worry what others might think. :)                 Might this be for a woman's dressing/toilet table

I love it as well. But unfortunately damaged, the two holders of the plate got lost. They are not original, and maybe loose.

Do you think it is cut glass? My first idea was Valerysthal/Portieux and pressed.

I thought it is a center for a table, we call it Jardieniere.

Monika

Thank you Paul, I will look twice on my bankaccount if I can afford it

phew  -  thought for a moment you were going to ask me for a loan ;D ;D              Without handling this piece, it appears that the dolphins and base are pressed, but to my eyes the dish part looks to be cut  -   though of course I could be very wrong.         With items which include cutting, we need to be very careful to make sure there isn't damage.

The British tend to interpret the word jardiniere as meaning an indoor container for growing plants, and made of ceramic, usually.
For something intended as a decorative item for the centre of the table - and associated often with cut flowers - we steal another French word, and use epergne.
Then again I've a feeling that bon bon and comport weren't ours originally either.

Understand your caution in view of the replacement parts  -  perhaps best to avoid this one then.             Regret I've no ideas as to maker.

Just my opinion, but if it is damaged, I would have expected the price to be less than it is.
I don't know how rare a thing it is, or anything else about it. I don't know if it is supposed to be  a whole item, with the mixture of cut and pressed glass, or if it is a marriage.
How well do the colours of glass match up?

I can see why you're attracted to it, but you're clearly a little unsure too, or you wouldn't be asking.

The bottom line that matters is; how much you like it and how much you want to pay for it.
But I do think it would be very reasonable to ask the seller for a good discount, for the damage.  :)
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

I get blamed for a lot of things  -  now I get blamed for glass ownership  ;D ;D   -   of course Monika, we know you will enjoy owning this wonderful piece.

We don't have an accurate idea of date for this piece  -  certainly dolphins have been used in some form of motif for glass for hundreds of years, so the dolphin on it's own won't help, I don't think.

I believe the acid etched Baccarat backstamp only dates from C1920  -  before that I think it was paper labels  -  so if this one is C19 then almost certainly there will not be a backstamp, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be the French factory.

Fingers crossed it's going to be a well known maker  -  do keep us informed Monika. :)
