Vase/signature ID???
« on: November 24, 2013, 02:48:23 PM »
Bought this at an auction in Flat Rock NC (Richard Hatch Auctions) Friday.
Would like any information on maker etc...
Described as Vaseline glass. Does not show any sign of uranium in glass.
Thanks for looking,
Tony

Could the name be SAUL ??   ???  just a guess here.

There is a Saul Alcaraz glass maker that does in the likeness of Steuben, BUT anything I found on him he signed his last name and date too on the bottom.  So probably NOT him

Mine you -- could be other people named Saul as a first name......or even a last name I guess....

Perhaps Buus - Marianne Buus.

Signature of Saul Alcaraz is much different than the picture above...good try though.

Marianne Buus does not match either another good try.

Thank you both for your guesses.

Have you found an example of her signature? The signature on your vase reads as Buus.

Have tried to find examples of her work that is similar but cannot find and or that of her signature.
Do you have an example that I might be able to compare them?

Sorry I doubted you :-[.
I really should have known better.
Will continue my searching and if I find anything further will be sure to post.
Thank you so much and again my apologies,

Don't give it a second thought, always best to question as far as I am concerned. Assuming that small vase I sold was by Buus then I think yours is too as the signatures match, fairly sure at the time I was able to find other similar work by her and was confident in the attribution.

You could try searching out contact details for her online and then ask.
