My latest purchase is this delightfull little (14cm tall) coloured vase in pink, purple and blue with gold aventurine.

At 5.5" is this too big to be considered a miniature?
I would say technically, probably yes, if you are using a 3.5" to 4" cut off point.

But to look at it, it seems to me to be a "miniature" version of something bigger.
There is a lot of detail in it, a beautifully made thing.

In the Monart catalogue, this shape varies in size from 10 inches tall down to 4 inches tall.
Totally agree with you Sue it has a lot detail and beautifully made.

I'd happily consider it to be a large miniature. 
The whole pattern on it (apart from the swirl, which is still small) has been pretty much "downsized" to look right.

I'm trying to ignore that aspect, see the workmanship and I am focusing on the purple and other brighter colours. The unmentionable is merely a backdrop.

Thanks for your comments M, it is a shape and colourway I don't' have in my collection.

Pink is not my favourite colour either, but I do think it looks ok in this vase. The top half, the pink enamels have been ground very fine and is almost transparent and the bottom half, the enamels were ground less fine and give the mottled effect.

Large miniature sounds good to me.
