Designlasin Question / Puzzle
« on: January 11, 2014, 04:07:42 PM »
We´ve just realized at Designlasi.com -site there is an "undisclosed" Helena Tynell Fossil range!!!! :o

The problem is that, so far, there is no found confirmation of the attribution in any Finnish sources  ???

designlasi.com:

http://www.designlasi.com/forum/and-again-who-made-vase-0

Somebody did design and make that vase... any thoughts who? Other than Tynell?

hello and welcome to the board :)

This is completely out of my area so I'm not much help but hopefully someone will be along shortly who will be able to positively id this for you.
In the meantime, the only thing it (the prunts on it) reminded me of was this kind of design by Pavel Panek
http://www.antiques-international.ch/reference-guide/detailansicht/article/pavel-panekstylised-flowerkevty-vaselibochovice-1973sklo-union.html

However the colour looks a bit strange to me, but that could just be my limited knowledge.

And again,  I've no idea if this might be part of a 'range' if you see what I mean?

Also can you describe the base of the vase?  it doesn't look as though it it indented, it looks as though it might be flat?   That would be a help in id'ing it also.

Keep checking back and as I say, hopefully someone will be able to help quite soon :)

I don´t know...Lately I´ve been browsing pics on google about designs of Frank Thrower and Ronald Stennett-Willson, but I haven´t found any match. Maybe I´m trying to find something that doesn´t exist. Unfortunately, there are no books in Finnish librarys to search their work.

I have never seen that so called Helena Tynell Fossil range before, so my knowledge depends on pictures sent to designlasi site and there are none of the bottom of the vase.

I've searched lots of Czech glass and not been able to find a Panek match either.
Perhaps your request might be seen by more people if it were moved to the main Glass thread board.  Should I ask the mods to cut this off and move it to main Glass for you?

ok, I have done so and it should appear in the main Glass forum once the mods have moved it.  So do keep a look out in that forum :)
I hope someone can help you id this - it's a fairly distinctive vase.

I've split this off and moved it to Glass for you.

The colour and texture of the vase in question reminds me of the eye vases that we finally ran to earth as Oberglas, Austria:

The tall vases with the bumpy bits round the base strongly remind me of this vase which was tentatively identified as Sea Glasbruk: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,21000.0.html

My first thought was Lindshammar - another avenue to look into...
