well, I'm with Neil  -  I want people to know as little as possible when I'm buying from them............. ;)          and I think that when I turn my toesies up, my glass, for what its worth, will go to a museum  -  stuff the family. ;D
Interest in the GMB and the world of glass collecting generally, is maintained mostly by folk who pay under £500 for something (in fact probably under £200), and without them we would have a rather quiet Board.
I suspect there is a difference of opinion depending on whether you buy contemporary studio creations, or historic pre-owned glass  -  also whether you are buying for investment.

I've had more of a buzz from finding something good for a quid from a junk/charity source than some of the pieces for which I've paid vastly more  -  it's good to know that experience gained from reading our books pays off.           Where is the fun in simply opening the cheque book and paying the asking price - although I appreciate the investment aspect  -  and occasionally there's the need to visit a dealer since Newcastle Light Balusters are as rare as hens' teeth at boot sales. ;D

But we mustn't get too serious, must we ??  -  after all isn't this all about having fun and enjoying ourselves ;)

I wonder if Peter would let me handle his treasures   or is that reserved for ladies only. ;) ;)

Buying for investment is silly.

I buy what I love and what I want to live with and appreciate on a daily basis.

We do that with paintings as well.
(Michael prefers paintings to glass, and he can afford paintings. I can't. But we do choose paintings together, and I rarely buy glass he will hate.)
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Earth without art is just eh.

It's going to be interesting to see how many handle your wife, Peter, when you're not around!   ;D
