VESICA PISCIS
This piece by František Vizner for Škrdlovice may seem disconcerting to some.
It baffles me to see the similarity it has with the “Virtual Potato”
described in my little treatise on Beauty.
Both address the mystery of the primordial vesica piscis.

Desconcertante para mí es ver la similitud que guarda con la “Patata virtual”
descrita en mi pequeño tratado sobre la Belleza.
Ambas abordan el misterio de la vesica piscis primordial.

Born on 15.3.1983 in Chomutov (northern Czech Republic).
Graduated from the Higher School of Glass and the Higher School of Applied Arts in Nový Bor.
 In 2012 he won a prestigious Czech Design Award with his piece “hruška” (pear). The following year,
at just 30 years old, he was appointed Artistic Director of the Moser Glassworks , a position he would hold until 2018.
He currently runs his own glass studio in Jirkov, very close to where he was born.

Nació el 15.3.1983 en Chomutov (al norte de Chequia)
 Graduado de la Escuela Superior de Vidrio y de la Escuela Superior de Artes Aplicadas de Nový Bor.
En 2012 gana un prestigioso premio de Diseño Checo con su pieza “hruška” (pera) al año siguiente y con solo 30 años
es nombrado Director Artístico de la casa Moser , cargo que ocuparía hasta 2018.
En la actualidad dirige su propio Estudio de cristal en Jirkov muy cerca de donde nació.

Established in HAIDA (Nový bor) at the end of the 19th century, Solomon Reich was able to set up a family glassworks S.REICH & Co., a leader in the production of pressed glass,
with Extensive catalogue
Difficulties caused by the First World War and the Depression forced the creation of a joint stock company REICH-KRÁSNO.
Political changes and the advent of the Second World War included the company in the so-called Morabian glass (Českomoravské sklárny AG,S.) ČMS. It was in this last period 1934 – 1943 that he would launch two crystal collections ATEL
and ANTIK of great beauty and originality.

Dificultades motivadas por la 1ª Guerra y la Depresión forzaron la creación de una Sociedad Anónima REICH-KRÁSNO.
Los cambios políticos y el advenimiento de la 2ª Guerra incluyeron la empresa en el denominado cristal de Morabia (Českomoravské sklárny AG,S.) ČMS. Fue en este último periodo 1934 – 1943 lanzaría dos colecciones de cristal ATEL
y ANTIK de gran belleza y originalidad

Today, the number one enemy of health is SUGAR. Before, it was SALT, then FATS, red MEATS and always a sedentary lifestyle.
But today, it is the sweet, SUGAR.
Jan Exnar's "lollipops"are a plea, an early (1990's) and desperate song to a paradise that is being denied to us,
 a childhood that is more bitter, less sweet, to which we will never be able to return.

Hoy el enemigo nº 1 de la salud es el AZUCAR. Antes lo fueron la SAL, luego las GRASAS, las CARNES rojas y siempre el sedentarismo.
Pero hoy es lo dulce, el AZUCAR.
Los "pirulis" de Jan Exnar son un alegato, un canto temprano (1990´s) y desesperado a un paraiso que se nos está siendo  prohibido, 
una infancia mas amarga menos dulce a la que nunca podremos regresar.

Experts consider Pavel Molnár a pioneer of German studio glass and place him among the most creative glass designers in Germany.
But it is worth remembering that he was born (1940) in Vojnice, Czech Republic. He completed his studies at the glass school in Železné Brod (1960) after working in various companies, in (1965) he went into exile in West Germany where over the course of 35 years he built a successful career of international recognition.
In (2000) he returned to the Czech Republic and set up his workshop in the Lacrán district of Český Krumlov.
These circumstances justify his inclusion in this anthology on Czech glass.

Los expertos consideran a Pavel Molnár un pionero del vidrio de estudio alemán y lo sitúan entre los diseñadores de vidrio más creativos de Alemania.
Pero es oportuno recordar que nació (1940) en Vojnice República Checa. Completa sus estudios en la escuela de vidrio de Železné Brod (1960) después de trabajar en varias empresas, en (1965) se exilia en Alemania Occidental donde a lo largo de 35 años se labra una carrera de éxitos y reconocimiento internacional.
En el año (2000) regresa a la República Checa e instala su taller en el barrio de Lacrán en Český Krumlov.
Estas circunstancias justifican su inclusión en esta antología sobre el vidrio Checo.

Without a doubt Vladislav URBAN is a relevant piece of the VERTEBRAL column of modern Czech pressed glass,
whose virtual coccyx was the master Rudof Schröter.
