Old English / Richardson ??
« on: February 24, 2014, 07:58:39 PM »
Just wondering if this is a Richardson weight  and would the age be around the 1900s.
Nearly 3 inches dia and 1.5 inches tall with a rough pontil mark indented on the base.
lots of ware to base and did have plenty of usage marks and nicks covering the dome but had it re-polished as I thought is was worth it.
Any help is appreciated

Thanks
Malcolm

Hi.  I think it probably is Richardson - the outermost canes look very much like theirs - but I think it may be earlier than 1900. By then they were establishing a tidier style.  How much earlier I do not know - my guess (and I mean guess) is perhaps 1880s - 1890s?
