Keith can you do a good close up both lit and unlit of the flakes in the final layer please?
Could it be mica with an amber transparent final layer casing as John says?

Keith's vase looks Bohemian or Czech to me. That combination of two reds and white is one Ruckl used but usually seen on an opaque reddy clay kind of colour:

Would those colours look like Keith's vase if cased in amber? Anyway, here is an example of mica under amber.

Have taken a dozen pictures, this is probably the best although the colour is a bit pale and the flecks look more silver than gold  ( cheap camera  ::))
