CMS Krasno (S. Reich) bubbly floral bowl

(1/3) > >>

rocco:
I love these 1940s hotworked pieces made at Českomoravské sklárny (CMS, former S. Reich & Co), sort of precedessors of early Skrdlovice. :)
No wonder, several Skrdovice designers had worked there...

Quite a complex piece with flowers suspended in bubbly glass. Diameter 24 cm.
Marked to the base with a deeply etched mark, "R" and "Krasno".

My bowl can also be seen in the CMS 1945/6 catalogue Jindrich kindly made available on his site: >> Link

I found this very interesting article online >> Link, with lots of information on CMS 1930s/40s production.
Three designers for this range of hotworked pieces with flowers are mentioned: Frantisek Zemek, Milena Veliskova and Ludvika Smrckova.
I guess I will not get closer than that...

Anik R:
Wow, Michael, fantastic bowl!  Love the red polka-dots in it.  And great that you found a reference for it in the CMS catalogue.

You are a very lucky man!  WONDEFUL addition to your collection.  ;D

rocco:
Thank you Anik!
I was actually looking out for pieces from that CMS catalogue ;D
They don't seem to crop up that often, so I am extremely pleased.

Greg.:
Interesting addition Michael.  :) - I would never have guessed the age in a million years, certainly has a very contemporary feel about it.

rocco:
Thanks, Greg!
Yes, quite a unique and unusual style, I don't recall having seen anything similarish from other 1930s/40s glass makers.

Emanuel Beranek and Milena Veliskova designed several pieces in this vein for Skrdlovice in the late 1940s.
Here are two from my collection...
