Rosenthal Studio-linie glass vase
« on: March 21, 2014, 01:21:33 PM »
Recently I have found a vintage glass vase with Rosenthal Studio-linie signature on it (I believe dating from 50s - 60s). However, I could not identify the exact series name or other details, such as artisan's name.
Do you have any ideas or may recognize this piece?

Hi Vladato - welcome to the Glass Message Board.  We hope you have fun here.

The Rosenthal Studio Line mark was used in the 1960s and 1970s. The products were all designed by quite famous designers (Böhm, Wiinblatt, Wirkkala, Sarpaneva, Still, Vasárely to mention but a few) but it is almost impossible to match designer and product - other than by style. There is no book which covers the Rosenthal produce, it is mostly guesswork.

Your vase is a gorgeous lump of the finest crystal, and it looks Finnish - so Sarpaneva or Wirkkala may have had a hand in it.

Thank you for your kind welcome.
As for the vase, my own research brought me to more or less same conclusions - my tip is on Wirkkala: this sort of broken ice pattern somehow has his hand in it.
And yes, it is quite amazing that these things remain grossly undocumented. I've contacted Rosenthal and they told me they keep archive only of the last 25-30 years. One would think that Rosenthal would be more serious in these matters.

I could further imagine Martin Freyer, but also just guessing...

And a welcome of course, Vladato!  :)
