I have already posted a topic thread showing a number of trinket sets by Stuart & Sons of Wordsley, each piece beautifully hand-decorated in enamels with depictions of  butterflies or a stylised floral motif:
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,51703.msg318060.html#msg318060

In each case, the glass pieces themselves were relatively plain (apart from the tray centres, which were cut with a starburst).

Now I’d like to show some photos of Stuart and Sons trinket sets , part sets, or pieces from sets which have no enamelled decorated but are embellished with cutting, engraving, or a combination of the two techniques.

So, here is the first set (seven photos over two posts). The tray and the trinket pot lids are decorated with a combination of a square hobnail cuts surrounding panels exquisitely copper-wheel engraved with a hanging basket of flowers, scrolls, (and on the tray, a flanking pair of birds in flight). The candlesticks have a more restrained cut background pattern bordering panels with the floral hanging basket.  The ringholder base is only decorated with the hobnail pattern (presumably because there wasn’t any space for an engraved panel).

(Permission for the re-use of these images on the GMB granted by Paul Adams).

•  The tray (30 cm x 25.5 cm)
•  Pair of candlesticks (16.5 cm high x 8.5 cm base diameter)
•  Pair of small trinket pots (6 cm high x 8 cm diameter)
•  Pair of larger trinket pots (8.5 cm high x 9.5 cm diameter)
•  Ring holder (9 cm high x 9.5 cm base diameter)

Three trinket pots and both candlesticks are acid etched with the Stuart  trademark.

Another Stuart & Sons crystal trinket set, again decorated with a floral motif, but this time the motif is much more ‘modern’ and stylised and is cut rather than engraved.

(Permission for the re-use of these images on the GMB granted by 100parkview).

The shape of the tray is, I think, the most avant-garde of any of the Stuart trays that I have encountered so far, after which the anodyne shapes of the candlesticks and lidded pot are rather an anticlimax.

Again, the photos will be spread over two posts.

By the way, any help with the Stuart pattern names or numbers for any of the sets would be much appreciated.
