Thank's Nick  :) I really wanted to know timespan can anyone tell from the canes etc if it's earlier or later, a rough idea what it's worth (thanks) and of course like all good pickers I  love to have my ego stroked  ;D
Also being a £9.99 come and get it or £19.99 if it's really special type of guy not even sure where to start it.
This and the Perthshire were actually cheaper than the other 2, which my limited knowledge told me were probably Vasart the one on the left the one with the more pastel colours later Strathearn or maybe early Perthshire neither of which have sold very well for me recently? I know a bit about a lot of things but don't profess to be an expert on anything but always quick to give help on things like Whitefriars which I know a bit about and often get frustrated and impatient when I need something back  :)

Hi Chris

The one above in case you're unsure is a pre 1978 (no P cane) Perthshire PP1 if 3", PP2 if 2.5".

Thought it maybe probably not much left in them at £25 each  will leave them where they are then though the Vasart/Strathearn on the left is a nice large one.

Thanks again Chris

One more question do you think the one on the right with the pastel colours is Perthshire too Nick ?

Sorry Chris from the photo it's hard to tell, I assume it was in a glass cabinet and that's reflections in the glass, could be Strathearn wouldn't like to say for sure.

It is extremely difficult to identify the period of a Paul Ysart weight by the canes as there are many examples of the same canes being used from the 1930s through to the 1970s!

And it is often difficult to decide if a PY weight could be 1930s or 1940s/50s period! There are many shades of colour tint to the domes and some "likely 1930s" weights show very little tint. If the dome colour is "yellowish" then it probably indicates mid 1940s to early 1950s (but some 1970s period weights also show a yellow dome tint). There are examples of "likely 1950s" weights which have a very clear dome and without uv tests they could be mistaken for early Caithness period!

As for base finishes ... that is even more complicated! :)

The dome shows little tinting though not crystal clear it is pretty clear.
