Wonderful to have some background information...  and very kind of Richard Royal to share with you (and us) a bit of the history.

I think it makes the piece even greater now.

I think it was either Johan or Johannes Hollander...I remember meeting him at the Hergeswil conference.

Thank you Tom, Anik and Adam!

I did a little googling, and the correct name seems to be Johannes Holländer. Maybe he has given up glass making, as there is virtually no info available online, just a link to google books where his name is mentioned >> Link

It's all really exciting, isn't it? 8)
It's not just Rocco's good fortune finding it, it's wonderful that it was somebody who really appreciates glass and the significance of the piece and the markings who did find it!

It might have ended up stuck in somebody's flowerbed, at the mercy of the weather or dropped on the way home...

Thank you, m!

And today this beautiful vase came my way, I am posting it in this thread as it linked to the Chihuly piece.
Signed to the base "Benjamin Moore, Baden 81".  (So one of the three artists who co-signed the Chihuly piece :D )
Heigh 28 cm.

I would have never been able to identify the faint signature without seeing the one on the bowl...
