Just heard back from Annette Meech after sending her an image of the weight and she thinks it may well be one of her early pieces but has no idea who John is,

The puzzle deepens, I have just heard from Arlon Baylis and he says the writing on the base is his but doesn't know who made the weight or who 'John' is, more info' when and if it comes to light,
