Daum jug and glasses
« on: July 08, 2014, 05:03:30 PM »
Hi guys,
3 of the glasses have a block looking possibly acid-etched stamp saying DAUM-NANCY and 2 others are more hand-written.
The jug is hand signed and has a ground polished pontil.
The glasses are 7" tall and feet have early looking tooling (gadget) marks.

I can not find any info on Daum homewares.

To my eyes these are not modern. Any ideas of age, designer, rarity etc pls?

Any help most appreciated, ta Wolfie

As far as I understand it Wolfie the mark on the base of the glass in your fourth photo is from the shears that cut the hot glass. Apparently gadget marks are much more subtle and would be found on the upper surface of a foot. There was a discussion about gadget marks fairly recently on the board, hopefully someone who knows more will comment.

I cannot help ID your (rather nice) glasses and jug but the marks do look a little odd to me. Sorry to be so vague, just an impression.

John

Hi, thanks for your input. I have managed to find these, although this style of glasses looks a little more modern to me, http://www.antiekvalentijn.com/VA%20foto%27s/na-1900/groot/glas-1990.081%20Daum%20likeurset%20comp.htm
I cant seem to find any info on early Daum tablewares, I think the excitement is Pate de verre etc and these have been forgotten :)
