thrift store find -- cased vase
« on: February 02, 2015, 10:20:11 PM »
I am new to glass collecting...(less than 1 month)   I found this at a local thrift store and have determined it's a cased vase (white inside) with an amber stem.  11 cm rim opening and 23.5 cm tall  Base is 11.5 cm wide.  There is a seam spiraling from top down that I can feel on the outside.  I'm not sure if it is vintage (due to the seam) or not.  Online searching of ebay and images has found similar ones by Empoli.  Thanks for your help and any direction you can point me!

Welcome to the GMB. You researched well. The item is technically speaking of the Italian Opalina kind - a milk glass cased in a colour, used a lot in lampshade industry. If your vase was actually made in Empoli, or in China or in Sweden is hard to say.  All is possible. The shape is simple,  there is no decoration.
