WONDERFUL collection Sue,

You have done well over the years, how many pieces do you have in total ?

I managed to buy a conche shell in ruby a couple of days ago.

Do you think my bottle should have a stopper ?   Were they ground to take stoppers ?

I don't know how many bits I've got, haven't counted recently!
I have been concentrating mostly on green bits, and was really chuffed to get hold of a massive stoppered bottle, (similar to the blue one in that early pic) a small lollipop, a tricorn bowl and an attenuated bottle.
I don't have pics of them all though.
I'll have a dig and see what I do have photographed.

The insides of the necks were not ground, the stoppers do not fit properly. I would imagine it was similar to Mdina - stoppers might have been an optional extra to buy at the time, so they were all made to fit everything - (unless it's the really big bottles, where the stoppers don't seem to be interchangeable - although they still don't fit properly).

Here's some of the green stuff.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

WOW, WOW, WOW.................  I am blown away by that !  :) :) :)

How long have you been collecting MDG ?

Those pieces are superb and wonderful to think how much history is in that group of pieces.

Thanks for showing.

Patrick.

I particularly liked 2 particular ways certain bits of Mdina Earthtones was executed while I was collecting that - and tried to accumulate those styles of Earthtones.
It was only later, when MGD was discovered and labelled examples were found, that I realised that one of the styles was Papa Boffo's execution of it.
So I was "collecting" it before I knew what it was, but nobody knew anything about Mdina when I was collecting that either, I certainly didn't!

So the MDG stuff has just gone along with that, really. As much exploring what I could find and identify as anything else.

I've got a really neat little pot bottle cased in blue, but with a green "grid" pattern in it.

I seem to be collecting unusual colour combinations as well as the green stuff.
I don't have a pic of my lollipop, but I'll take one tomorrow, if the sun pokes its nose out for long enough.

Meanwhile, some Boffo jugs from Mdina.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Here it is Sue, with another in the same shape but different colour.

Haha, I sold my conch shell to the USA. The "ruby" isn't going to be ruby though. It's a sort of orange
Here's the stuff I've got hold of, though Sue has the amber vases and the conch is in the USA

Thanks, John! Not just for finding it and passing it my way, but for taking its mug-shot and posting it here.
That piece sits on my coffee table in the sitting room, (I sometimes prop my vapouriser in it.)
It's very heavy and has a fabulous "feel" to it. :)

Yes definitely ruby. (I thought you'd bought it in the USA as well. Note to self read slower.) Has it got the sort of ground base that shows every mark. i.e., that used a small but fine wheel?
