Topic: Is this a rabbit silhouette ?

Hi All, I have been looking closely at this St Mandé and am trying to figure out what the cane at 7 o'clock on the complex cane below the sunburst rose is. It is part of all the complex canes around the rose. They all have the same shape except for the one in the complex cane at the right of the rose which has been distorted. I looks like a simplified rabbit to me.... any suggestions? By the way, it was only when I photographed the canes for this post did I realise that the blue cane at the bottom of the shot was hiding a rose. You would have been hard pushed to see this without macro photography.

I would need to see a much larger pic of that complex cane to even consider what the "white part" might be.

I'm not entirely sure if I understood what you were getting at, so might be confused but to me it just looks like the same cane as the one next to it except it's been put in upside down.
That's if  you were referring to the two canes below the rose?  I think the white rabbit shape is just squashed and if it is a white rabbit it will be replicated in the cane next to it but at 12 O'clock if yswim (the white squashed bit at 12 o'clock in the right hand cane below the rose is what I mean)?  Apologies if I have completely misunderstood what you were referring to.

Hi All. Sorry it sounded a bit confusing. Here is the complex cane in isolation. The silhouette is the cane at seven I' clock, white and not a star cane. Hope this helps. Don

Hi. I am pretty sure it is just a squashed white  star cane. I wrote an article a few years back about some of the strange shapes you get from distorted canes, and how our brains interpret them as specific creatures / letters / numbers.  It is rather like seeing shapes in clouds.

I agree with Alan. A squashed star cane. Six "points" can still be seen, even where they are more flattened.

Thanks guys. I hadn't thought of it being a squashed star. So back to gazing into clouds for me! Not yet seen a shape of a paperweight in the clouds yet Don
