Topic: black glass dish. ID = Henry Greener

Picked up this dish today and noticed it carried a registration lozenge.It is 9 inches in diameter
I do not have a good knowledge of pressed glass but I think the date of registration is 29 July 1876 bundle g.
Is this a very common pattern and does anybody know who the manufacturer is?.
Any help is much appreciated,

Greener: an identical one is shown in Victorian Table Glass and Ornaments by Barbara Morris. Hard to say about rarity - I've owned a couple of black ones like yours plus an oval example in clear frosted. Maybe not the easiest pattern to find but they do turn up now and again.

I have seen 2 myself over the last 10 years or so one in white and the blue one pictured below which also has the date lozenge twice on the base.

Thanks for the swift reply Steven its allways nice to put a manufacturer to a piece of glass.
Roy thanks for your input, mine is also marked twice,once on the base and once on the border.
Am I right to think there is no true black in glass. Under a good magnifier the colour looks very dark amethyst.

There is true black glass, but green and amethyst were often used to create a dark (almost black) glass. Ivo can expand on this...
