Possibly a patch box missing lid. Although examples shown are company and time specific. Type probably made into the 1920's. Many makers and countries

Thanks Cagney , It more than likely is a base or lid of a box . It stumped me as it's so similar to plinths only upside down . Thanks for everyones help . Dave.
