Could this vase be Murano or Empoli?
« on: March 15, 2015, 01:13:41 PM »
Hello,

A short while ago I purchased a beautiful large olive or mossgreen pinched vase with at the top seven holes. The vase is nor marked but has a clear pontilmark. I suspect it's midcentury Italian probably made by one glassartists on Murano or maybe in Empoli. Does anyone recognize this vase or the style? All extra information is welcome!

Thanks in advance!

hiya Roelof.
I think you can safely rule out Empoli as the place of origin. It could be anything, from Murano to German to Chinese - but Empoli is not very likely.

Hi Roelof,

Your vase was retailed by the Belgium company Serax, who also have agents in the Netherlands amongst a handful of other European countries looking at their website, however, its not immediately obvious which company produces the glass they retail.

For reference a labelled example can be viewed in the below link, which reads: 'SERAX maison d'etre'

Hope this helps.

Greg
