Triangular Seguso Vetri d'Arte bowl?
« on: April 29, 2015, 09:00:44 PM »
The colours look right but I did not spot the exact shape in Marc Heirmans book. These colours are given the name Giallo - Topazio Brusciato, yellow and dark burnt topaz and were introduced in 1957 (page 313). The bowl is chunky and very heavy, nicely made, 17cm wide.

Any ideas?

John

Hi John,
very nice colours!
One of the few downsides of the otherwise great Heiremans book: not all models are found in the book; even a good part of the pieces pictured in the catalogue section are not found in the black-and-white selective model list or the model drawings (but they do have a pattern number assigned , so there has to be a reference somewhere).
So, even with the book it is impossible for us collectors to descern if a piece which is not found in the book may still be Seguso Vd'A.

At least the nice chapter about colour combinations and techniques gives some good hints for attribution, so I don't see a reason why your lovely bowl should not be Seguso.
Cut designs seem more common in the Pinzoni than in the Poli era, though...

Thanks for taking a look Michael, Seguso seems favourite, for the time being then...
