Kosta Glass Lamp ID and value help Please!
« on: June 19, 2015, 02:17:21 PM »
Hello Friends!   :D

I have a lovely Kosta glass lamp that was owned by my Hungarian godmother in the who passed away in the 1970s.  I am trying to get some information about it.

The etching on the bottom is "Kosta Hx BSa 55".

The sticker says "Kosta Sweden".

I looked on some id websites but didn't find any information that could help me understand these marks, nor could I find any photos or history of a lamp like this.

Thank you in advance for any information you can share with me about this lamp.

 :)

I'm not an expert, but it can be dated before 1976, when Kosta became Kosta Boda. However, it does look late 1950s-1960s to me. There is some data on the various code numbers, so hopefully this little bump will help.

Valuations are rarely given here, for a variety of reasons - subjectivity, fluctuations in the market, etc. But good glass will always find its mark through auction or online sites.

Hi,
Looking at this picture online : http://www.wigerdal.com/Lamps/pages/Lamp32.html it seems you may have an Ove Sandberg Lamp body minus the shade. They have it at mid to late 20thc (HX Bsa 54 is shown elsewhere on the net attributed to the 1970's). I'm sure that those more knowledgeable about Sandberg and Kosta will be able to narrow the date down.
Regards
Nick
