Perhaps the quality controller wasn't a monarchist?  ;)

You folks are being a little too cryptic for my aged mind.  Would you mind clarifying your comments.  Are you accusing them of adding the mark after the fact?  What do you know about the paperweight?

It might have been a limited edition.....one of never again  ??? It would be great to see another one ...sig. looks spot-on to me !

Scroll down here for verification of the signature which is contemporary for the date in question......

Here is a link to another Webbs piece I own , with photo of the same signature , just in case of any doubt....

I'm sorry, keith - I was confused when I read your first posting - and still can't follow you.

Are you getting at "Made in Webb Glass" instead of "Made in - Webb - England"? The "England" is difficult to read on the image - don't know whether it's better if one actually holds the weight itself.

Whatever - a friendly note to the seller, pointing this out, would have been more useful than confusing comments on this board.

Keith did mention that the mark was correct and ' proper ' for the date .....it's just the the way the lettering/numbering was formed, that seems non-uniform  .....again, it would be good to see another example for comparison....If at all possible ??  ;) :D

Sorry for the confusion as Mike says the mark is genuine and contemporary it's just that I've never seen such a poor quality piece from the Webb factory, ;D

Wouldn't say I was the sharpest knife in the draw, but I got the gist of it from the first post, very odd for Webb to have such shoddy lettering,I would imagine they had both been down the boozer, the maker and the quality control man. :o
