For confirmation about PM / email within the Board ...

Personal Messaging (PM) is only enabled for Moderators.

Emails can only be sent / received by general members when the relevant setting is checked in a member's Profile. The setting is under Account Settings and is activated by clicking the check box stating "Allow users to email me".

Currently, member Millefiori has that setting unchecked.

To get a Whitefriars owl paperweight in a collection of oddments is very fortunate.  As others have already said, this is a very rare weight and most Whitefriars collectors (including me) would sell their mother to get hold of this  (my mother is vintage but still in full working order).
I would also be interested in acquiring this.

Thank you for the laugh of the morning. I wouldn't do that to my mom. She is only 67..:)  but Whitefriars Owl along with the bumble bee are on my bucket list. I was fortunate enough to get a butterfly couple of years ago here in US.

I first mentioned the scarcity of this weight earlier in this thread - me and a number of others would like to add it to our collections. So put us out of our misery and tell us if you would be selling it in the near future.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all the information on the paperweight, and Anne for kindly moving it to the correct category.  I apologize for the late reply but I don't always check my computer everyday now, but I will make sure to check back in tomorrow.

The paperweights were not part of the small collection of vases, just one of a small collection of paperweights I have collected over the years, I have 5 or 6 similar ones.

I am not 100% sure about selling it as it is an attractive scene and I do like the owl and the stars which I find very pleasant.

I am also struggling to find a value for the paperweight as I cannot for the life of me find any auction results for it at all?

I do appreciate that some of you are interested in acquiring this design, can anyone give me a ball park idea of it's value or an estimate, or would I be better off sticking it on eBay?

Hi there,

For some reason I cannot find the Google result that Roberta mentions. However, I have seen two such owls coming up for sale in the past (one at auction and one on Ebay) and if my memory serves me right both sold over £1000. And I suspect that dealers would ask more for such a weight...

So now you have an idea...

I should add that I am not interested in buying the weight; I do not collect Whitefriars. I was only imparting information.

 :)
The owner of the weight could quite easily ask for private offers from all those interested, and then pick the best offer, in a sort of small silent auction, off board, given so many folk are already clamouring for it.
If it is for sale.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Hi vintageartglass,

If you do decide to sell the weight (or any other glass item you may have), either to an interested GMB member, or through an online auction such as eBay, please start a new thread in the Market Place forum where discussions and contacts can be made in the proper context.
