Interesting piece I found recently: small (12 cm high) and heavy, totally opaque vase.
Thick layer of white glass, cased in red, applied gold foil. Interior with pink casing.
The outer surface shows a faint crackle texture.
Broken pontil, heat finished rim.
Huge amounts of wear to the areas of the base the vase sits on.
The layering and the gold foil remind vaguely of Murano pieces made in the "Incamiciato" technique, for instance by Tomaso Buzzi for Venini.
So that would be my best guess at the moment: Murano, 1930s/40s, company...?
Or a sort of test or apprentice piece? (The crackle texture seems highly unusual). But still Murano?
Thanks for any thoughts

Michael
