A question about Val Saint Lambert "Myriam" bowl.

I've had a VSL "Myriam" bowl for some time and wonder if the raised ring on the inside of the base would originaly have had a flower block in it.  Would anyone know one way or the other?

You're right, it would have an insert, originally, but they always get lost .... as you've noticed.  :D
They're described, and also catalogued, as Coupe Myriam, but actually they're platewarmers/hotplates and not Coupes/bowls for floral displays....  they're called 'Réchauds' in French.

The insert was made of metal, it looked like the one in the link... they can be found at carbootsales/brocantes etc ... just make sure you get the right size, as there's a smaller version of this piece.

Many thanks for the info. It is the smaller round one that I have and I've always thought it was a flower bowl.

As it happens I'm just off to a boot fair but won't be looking for the metal plates, the bowl looks better without.  I was thinking it might have had a small glass flower block inside.
