Topic: Caithness Stroma decanter - show and tell

Bought this Stroma decanter this week in a charity shop, the stopper had been separated from the base and priced individually. It took me a while to twig that they belonged together...

Designed by Domhnall OBroin in the early 1960s (OBroin deserves much greater recognition to my mind), 33cm tall. Both the top and base of the stopper are ground and polished.

The only other image of a Stroma decanter I could find online is in the V&A's collection, unfortunately they have misspelt Domhnall OBroin, their example in clear glass: http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O249722/stroma-decanter-and-stopper-obroin-domhall/

A very lucky find - doubly so with the stopper.
Mine are missing their stoppers, but I do have a water set with the glasses, in the deep blue which appears to be called Flint.
I have been grabbing these when I've seen them, simply because they look and feel so good. I did not have a clue they were Caithness until recently.
I don't see much around, even up here.
