Vasart or Strathearn Gilded Rim Tricorn Vase
« on: September 16, 2015, 05:01:38 PM »
Picked this up today half expecting to see a Vasart signature on what looks like a Vasart style base to me but there is nothing there. Scotland's Glass has a similar style vase  with a Strathearn label but information there describes it as Ysart brothers for Strathearn. Looking through the GMB for rim gilding on Vasart this thread http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,2709.msg20279.html#msg20279 shows Vasart VO16 but how that has a shaped foot (looks like it too has rim gilding).
Any thoughts on my vase which is 3 3/8ins high x 3 5/8ins at its widest, would be much appreciated. I could, of course, be completely wrong and this vase will turn out to be neither Vasart or Strathearn  :)

I would say most likely Vasart, there are occasional ones come up with the gilded edges....... but....... it can  often be difficult to distinguish between late Vasart and early Strathearn.
I have a posy basket in the same colourway (without the gilding) which is marked Vasart.

Also, there are still lots of shapes  out there which are still unrecorded - though I would say your is a V016 variant...see link

I don't think I've ever seen a base like that on Nazeing, so I would count them out as any potential alternative.

Hi - it's definitely Vasart or Strathearn - very typical base for them on the small "tourist" pieces  ;)

Definitely(IMHO) Vasart.
Vasart made them with and without the applied foot.
In my opinion one of the nicest of the Vasart shapes.

im sure that Pirelli glass who decorated the babycham and the martini  glasses for vasart may have decorated these small vasart pieces with gilded rims
