Hi, I picked this bowl up in Amsterdam along with a lot of 18th century glass. The bowl is 20th century in the style of a facon de Venise bowl of the 17th century. The bowl is cup-shaped, measuring 24.5 cm (9.8 inches) in diameter at the turned-over rim. The bowl is gadrooned to the lower half with a second gather of glass and sits on a thick merise and a tall, fluted foot which measures 13.8 cm (5.5 inches) in diameter and has a turned-up edge. The bowl is 20 cm (8 inches) in height and weighs 1.73 Kg. The glass has a green tinge to it.
Initially the thought was that it might be Gray Stan but no such bowl appears in their catalogue. It has some age to it and I would put it at about 1950/1960. Can anybody shed some light on its origins?
Best wishes
Neil
