Manufacturers sign - Shield
« on: November 17, 2015, 08:02:05 PM »
I bought a glass goblet that has an empty shield as a mark on the outside bottom. Mark is above the level of glass.
Does anyone know if it is a relevant mark?

A photo of the shield and the goblet would be useful.

Hi Makanudo, I think your goblet is a vase, and I think it is either Czech or German, but can't recall which. I have one like it and I think we've discussed them on the board before. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Vase? Ok. Yes, now that I look at it on the inside, its logical.
Thanks Anne! I would really apreciate if you could find that discussion to see the style and age.

 :) :) :) :)

OK I have found the discussion I was thinking of, it is vase no. 2 in this topic:
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,9089.0.html - as your pics are not as clear nor on the same angle as the ones in the other topic it's hard for me to compare accurately, so could you take a peek and see if the vases in there are the same pattern as yours, and let me know? Thanks!

They are similar... I need to measure again, but  thorn details on mine are at different angle, wider than the one in this discussion and mine hase draping like design on the outer side below rim.
It is in my basement and I will take better photos tomorrow and post for you to see..
Thanks so much for your effort and help.

Much better, thanks for adding them. We can see the shape and the style clearly now.  I'll have a hunt through some resources and see what I can find...  :)
