Edward Moore RD 83773 of 12 October 1887, sugar & creamer
« on: December 16, 2015, 08:51:55 PM »
Photos of a clear press-moulded glass sugar and creamer, both bearing the embossed registered design number 83773 (registered by Edward Moore & Co., South Shields on 12 October 1887).

(Permission for the re-use of these images on the GMB granted by beetina123).

Both pieces have twisted handles (often cited as a characteristic feature of many Edward Moore pieces). Many Edward Moore designs have gadrooned sides, but this design has 8-lobed sides (decorated alternately with a rosette-and-hobstar pattern and an interlocking diamond-star pattern).

Jenny Thomson (page 21) describes the design as “Shape (jug and covered bowls in oval and lobed shape. Twisted handles)”.

This seems to be an uncommon design, so does anyone have photos of pieces in other shapes to show, please?

Fred.
