I've seen this already, I do not think it has anything to do with Malta.
Beyond that, all I can suggest is some sort of studio piece.
No ideas as to origin, could be the states, could be Europe.
No idea as to age, whatsoever.

 I agree with you 100% Sue but when I saw this vase I fell in love with it..........
A present for my sister who lives in North Carolina and only £5.65 postage !
I may get to see it sometime.
