Murano glass case? Mystery signature, can't identify it.
« on: January 12, 2016, 01:29:18 AM »
I would appreciate any information as to who this artist is.  I cannot decipher the signature.  I have posted a wide-shot photo of the vase and a close up of the signature.  Many thanks.

Adam it is often impossible to read a signature taken straight on like this one.  The pattern within the glass distracts the eye and the whiteness of the signature is too variable.  I find it better to take from a very shallow angle outside so the sky causes the flat surface to appear light, and because the engraving does not reflect light it appears dark.  Back ground patterns are taken out of consideration.  Here is an example of the effect with one of my Kosta Boda vases.

A second problem is that your images are too small.  You should try for a size around 120Kb.  This typically gives photos of about 600x600pixels.  Your limit is 124.99Kb for any photo.  Please try to make your pictures as large as possible.

If you are having trouble look in the Help section at the top of the Home page.

Hi Ross,
Thanks very much for the heads up.  I will fix this and post new pics shortly.

Welcome! A little talcum powder rubbed over the signature mark with your thumb will also help to bring it up for photography.
If you haven't got any talc, some cornflour or even ordinary flour will suffice, but that can get sticky and messy if it gets wet.

Great job resizing the photos Adam.  Notice their size - in many cases you could make them much larger still and stay within the 125kB LIMIT.  My rule is "as big as possible".
