fritz Scheiner lion bowl - ID = Brockwitz
janinedangelo:
I recently purchased a lovely amber glass bowl with lion handles and feet and an acorn pattern. Iwas told it was a bowl designed by Fritz Scheiner in 1936 but I seem unable to find any information regarding the authenticity of this information. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions?
thanks Janine

Hi JanineWelcome to the board. We could help you better if you post a picture. Here is a good place. It was created for the message board http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/
Glen:
Sounds like it is a Brockwitz piece. A series of deco style master bowls were designed for Brockwitz by Scheiner - and the date you give is the right time frame.
A more frequently found piece is the one with fish handles - it's been discussed here on the GMB a few times. Here's one of the threads for you, that has some extra background info.

The lion handled bowl is seldom seen - and congratulations on getting it. There was a splendid vaseline one on eBay some months back - but my bidding wasn't high enough!
I have to compensate myself with the lovely blue squirrel handled bowl (Brockwitz) I got last year instead :D
