Blue murrines little bowl - Chinese?
« on: February 24, 2007, 04:26:52 PM »
This is such a sweet little bowl, about 3.25 ins 85 mm made up of blue murrine slices ala Toso, but of lesser quality.  I am assuming Chinese (see the base) - would that be right?

I have one identical to this  :)
When I got it I assumed older chinese so I'd b very interested
to hear if anyone knows who made this. I bought it from a thrift shop here in norway.

They do get around those Chinese, don't they!  Is yours the same colour as well?

Thank you very much!

Yep - same colors and semi-rough pontil  :)
It's a fun little piece, I assume it's and ashtray.

I have just bought one of these little bowls for a few pence and found this old thread from 2007. I found one advertised for sale in America on eBay which says its attributed to Fratelli Toso with a large price tag on it. Mine has lots of base wear and looks to have some age to it. Does anyone know if these are really Chinese or not. Quite heavy and lumpy things but I like anything blue. Cheryl
