Had to post this, with permission from the man himself, the story behind it is just as good, I have to mention Darren Weed who helps Vic with his blowing.

What happened was a Mom and her two kids visited his studio and one of the children said he should make a rocket so Vic said you draw it then, which he did and Vic said he'd have a go, when they came back a week later they saw the rocket and wanted to know how much it was but Vic said it wasn't for sale, the children said " oh no! " to which Vic replied it's a present for you.
He said they've made about six now only one 'crashed' His studio is well worth a visit, I believe Rosie has been there, very nice bloke and talented artist.  ;D ;D ;D

What a fab story, Keith, and the rocket is brilliant. I love all the details that can be seen on it, it's not just a rocket shape, it is a proper rocket! I bet the kids were tickled pink with it.   Clever lad that Mr Bamforth!

What a beautiful story and what a really lovely thing for him to have done.

Isn't it fabulous to hear of something like this?
When the general news is just full of folk being horrible.

When John and I visited Vic in his studio,  we saw the Multi-coloured picture of the wonderful rocket that the little boy had drawn and the coloured glass rocket that  Vic had made for him. He told us the story, and I was very moved by it, and very soon learned that Vic is just that sort of person.  We were visiting for an hour or so,  but ended up chatting for so long that suddenly it was more than four hours later!
If you have never been to the studio, I do highly recommend a visit.  It is an Aladin's cave of colour, with the most intriguing and interesting collection of glass. I am definately going back for another visit. :)
