Scary piece of glass, any ideas????? ID = René Roubíček
beasoriginals:
I found this scary piece of glass at a house clearance and haven't been able to find anything like it in my books or on the internet, can anyone help???
It measures approx. 22cm across, approx. 32cm high and weighs approx. 4kg.
The base is a sphere made from clear glass mottled with red, a large hole to the bottom of the sphere with a ground rim and a smaller hole to the top of the sphere with an unground rim.
Thick strip of clear glass with red, blue, green or yellow, have been randomly applied to the base sphere. The strips also have a crimped edge.
There is a plastic sticker attached to the base with a number written on it and above this what looks like the remains of a circular sticker.
The piece is beautiful in the light and may be some kind of light fitting although the weight of it would probably make this theory unlikely.
Any ideas folks???
Torysa:
It reminds me Czechoslovak glass by Rene Roubicek. I would like to be scared like this...

Ivo:
Czech is what I suspect from the production number sticker.

Thank you so much for the links, Mark Hill suggested it was by Rene but when I googled him none of the pictures were close to mine so I dismissed the idea. Having seen this though it appears to be very similar 😁
I have never heard of him before, is his work very collectable and how rare would you think this piece is?
Thank you so much for all your help so far
