Italian labelled duck - ID = Formia
« on: April 14, 2016, 04:37:14 AM »
Hopefully someone can help on which company made this duck for me.Seen on the net that it could be by Formia but then came across Franco Moretti. The duck measures 37 long by 16 tall by 15 cms wide and weighs 2.7 kgs.It is unsigned. There is residue on the bottom where a sticker seems to have been along with a paper sticker with Italian handwritten on.
If it is either of these companies, any idea when it was made.
Thanks Paul.

What a gorgeous duck he is!  You might find something similar in the Murano Zoo here: https://sites.google.com/site/muranozoo/ - it's worth having a look through.

Hi Anne,
thank you so much for your reply on the duck.Just been on the site you mentioned and it certainly looks like a Giuliano Mian for Formia.I will try and do more research on him and maybe get an idea of the age of it.
Thanks again,Paul

Just been in touch with Formia and they have kindly replied saying it was produced by them about 20 years ago by master glass artist Smerghetto.
Thank you Anne for your help on this.FYI the duck is in excellent condition with not even a scratch.
Cheers Paul.
