French Perfume Flacon Unknown Maker

(1/2) > >>

msiscoe:
Hello,

I recently purchased this Perfume Flacon, acid etched Made in France to the base. It is of high quality, but not Lalique. Does anyone know who the maker was?

Many thanks,

Ivo:
No. That may seem a short answer but fact is, there is a serious number of flaconneries situated in Pas-de-Calais, Bresle valley where practically all perfume bottles in France are produced. I do not think anyone has sufficient insight in their productions to attribute yours with any confidence - unless it is the local musée.

helen farnsworth:
This perfume bottle was indeed made in France and designed by Viard for Harriet Hubbard Ayer of the United states and held a perfume by her.

Ivo:
Helen that is an amazing level of detail.
Julien Viard bottles ( I looked it up) were made by  Baccarat, Depinoix, Maugenest, Pochet et du Courval, Bobin and Sté Parisienne de Verreries - so the confusion regarding the producer still rules. But at least designer and approx dates have now surfaced.
A grand entrance to the G M B - thank you so much and welcome.

helen farnsworth:
It just happens that this bottle was in an article I wrote about Harriet Hubbard Ayer.  I am the archivist for the International Perfume Bottle Association and do quite a bit of research on French perfume bottles.
Helen
