ID help: Bowl - Triangular form - Blue. ID = Kumiko Nakajima

<< < (3/4) > >>

misha:
Confirmed: Kumiko Nakajima

Ross got it in one.

Email reply to inquiry tonight.  "Thank you for your email.  In answer to your query, I can confirm that I am the artist of the blue glass bowl in your link."

Now I'm curious about the ,02.  Worth a question I guess.
Move thread to Japan and Aus. section soon?
Awaiting reply on the 02 and 'where at' question.

Very good all round. Thanks for that Kumi and Ross.

misha:
Maybe it isn't 02 and is OZ

KevinH:
Good to have a maker ID, but which country forum does this belong under? Is it "New Zealand & Australia" or "Far East (excluding China)". It can't be both!

misha:
I suggest wait a while till we do a resolved move of thread.
Seeking further info Kevin as to where made, from the artist.

I'd say Japan given her heritage and perhaps preference. Thats respectful.
I can start new thread in Aus. along the lines of Kumi's work in Australia if it is made there.

Notwithstanding the fact the artist may not be regarded as a specific National, it would be good to maintain some connection to Australia for ID and research merit, I'd suggest.

Currently, we do have another Japanese artist who trained and worked in Australia, who has returned to Japan [producing], in the Australian / New Zealand section.

-edit update-

Kumi advises she did not number or date pieces and that she started making them "around 2008 and it is made in Australia."

The last part of engraving needs better photo angle to work out what it is.  Easier due to location on a non-ground field and the tool used.

I suggest move to 'Far East' [Japan section for reasons above]
I'll also get better image and post new thread in Australian section [for reason also above].

brewster:
I disagree. The item was made in Australia, by an artist artist lives and works in Australia, and whose main professional training was undertaken in Australia.

I also don't recommend spawning another thread in a different section. Think of the mess if we did that every time we mentioned Sam Herman at the Jam Factory!
