I recently bought a Finnish Kaj Frank ashtray with a Nuutajarvi lable.  On the bottom was what seems to be an acid etch symbol of a bird in flight, which I have never seen on these ashtrays (photo attached).

The same symbol appears on some Norwegian Hadeland drinking glasses on page 157 of the Pina book "Smoke & Ice" (attached). [Mod: copyright image removed as per board policy on the use of copyright material]

Does anybody seen this symbol before or have any idea what this symbol is from?  An airline?  A hotel?  A department store?

Thanks for your help.

Rob

I suspect you may be right in thinking it's a logo of some sort - it looks very familiar, but I can't think what it was for, sorry.

The logo was used by the Royal Viking Line of cruise ships.  The line was in operation from 1972 until 1998, I believe the mark was in use from the early 70's (based on a crimson eagle from Viking mythology).
