Is This A Whitefriars Streaky Tumbler Vase
« on: June 26, 2016, 04:11:13 PM »
Please help to confirm the maker of this streaky vase. When I bought it I thought it may be a Whitefriars streaky tumbler Vase.

Height just under 8"
Diameter at rim 5.5"
Polished pontil and a lot of wear to base.
Weight 1040gm.

Thanks Roy

What is the quality of the finish like?
I had thought these streaky buckets were Powell, but they're not of usual Powell incredible quality when they are. They tend to be a bit coarse and uneven to the touch and have little bubbles sticking out from the surface.

Thanks
I would say the quality of the finish is not great and you can feel some bubbles more on the inside than the outside.
Shape and size and weight seems to be right and looks to have the age, but I am not convinced with the streakyness of the vase.

Perhaps the odd very slim trail of glass over the surface too?
The streakiness can vary, but it looks fine to me. The roughness inside you describe sounds about right. I always used to be horribly confused about the lack of finesse in the finish. :)
They do have good weight and you can tell there is age when you're holding them.

It looks right, 8" is one of the sizes they were made in: http://www.whitefriars.com/catalogues/contents.php?id=1151

Thanks all for all your comments.

Considering the vase was made in several sizes and a number of colours including some vases in 2 or 3 colours the vase does not seem to be as common as you would think.

I've seen and handled quite a few, but it has been over approximately 17 years of hunting.
