A pressed flint glass epergne with external decorative pattern imitating fan and diamond cutting, and “Reg. 594129” embossed on the side (which should have been registered in December 1911 or January 1912.

The EPNS metal base mount is stamped with a maker’s shield  mark containing the initials WJM&Co ( believed to be the pre-1899 mark of William James Myatt and Company – the company was established in Birmingham in 1895, and in 1899 became a limited company and altered their stamp mark accordingly, so it may be that the glass epergne was fitted to old metal mount (either at manufacture or some time afterwards).

The  mounted epergne  is approximately 27 cm in height and 13 cm in diameter.

(Permission for the re-use of these images on the GMB is granted by Mike Nunn).

RD 594129 is not listed at Great Glass http://www.great-glass.co.uk/glass%20notes/regnos07.htm
and is, of course, later than those listed by Thompson or Slack.

Is the number in the Blue Book? If so, would some kind member let me have the precise registration details, please?

Fred.

Thank you, Keith.

Yet another 'missing' number to be added to the GMB RD lookup request list for Paul S.'s assiduous attention in due course.

apologies that this is three years late  -  quite possibly rather lost the point now......   but on the off chance that it's of some use, here are images from Kew.
Fred's assumption of the Registrant's name was correct, and the Applicant is recorded as 'Silversmiths', so obviously not the maker of the glass, and we will probably never discover who made this epergne.

I wonder how you press a shape such as this??          perhaps some pneumatic blowing involved?

I was going to say we might excuse Myatt for placing this in CLASS IV as they were silversmiths, and possibly unaccustomed to dealing with CLASS III (glass), but CLASS IV as we know was ceramics and not metal, so no excuse then ;)
