Age of glass ??
« on: September 25, 2016, 08:47:39 AM »
Hi can anyone give me an indication as to how old this glass might be . The acid etching in fairly poor and basic and there is a glass blob / lump inside the bowl

regret to say your pix not appearing large enough to get an idea of the detail  -  you can improve this by making the first dimension 700, which will help, especially with detail on the underside of the foot................   is it flat entirely, or is there some indication of a depression?
Could be very wrong, but the decoration looks to be wheel engraved rather than acid, and in view of the unusually thick foot and coloured internal blob at the bottom of the bowl, I'd suggest Continental rather than the U.K.                         The knop appears to be of the bladed sort, although unsure whether the bowl is cup or ovoid.

Not that it will really help on this occasion, but an indication of size and whether lead glass or not - can be useful.

The second half of the C19 contains an assortment of lower quality glasses, with styles and shapes overlapping by substantial margins of time, and you may find it difficult to be more specific than this, but  ...................   fingers crossed, someone may have exactly the right answer :)
