Quality cut overlay jug
« on: October 30, 2016, 04:41:14 PM »
I just wanted to show you this superb purple overlay cut jug.
I was so surprised to find a Made in Poland label on the base and Violetta. It is top quality with thick heavy cutting and I have never seen Polish overlay glass like this before.
Is Violetta a range or a company and how old is it please?
Cheers Wolfie

this might help?

Only one comment but the poster appears to say that all aspects of production can be seen at the factory.
And this thread from 2007 where Leni agrees on the quality and Marcus has given some information - but scant.

This link mentions about the town and says that 'one way or another Violetta has been in the town since 1864'.
That's curious - I wonder what it used to be called? Perhaps it's always been called that but I've never heard of it.

You might need to search in Polish.

Just a question ... did you take the pictures wide angle?

God, how to say this ...it's a nice jug but please don't take this wrong ...  I'm here to learn and obviously I'm missing something.

I do appreciate you're asking for info about the manufacturer and not for personal opinions, but I've  got difficulties calling something top quality, when it looks like the  almond shaped facets are not all as straight as the rest, the wavy pattern is not symmetric and not as curved in some places as it is in others and it looks like it has been acid polished...

Tell me I need my glasses changed or I'm just wrong ... or diplomacy isn't my strongest point ... but somebody, please tell me why I should look at this and the details I've mentioned,  differently.

Violetta is a company, Wolfie. http://violetta.com.pl/ - founded 1864 apparently.
